    Jobs - German lesson

    Introduction
In German, there are specific words for various professions, which are crucial to learn when communicating in a professional context. The names of professions often come with an article ("der", "die", "das") depending on their gender. 2. Genders of Professions in German
In German, professions are gendered, meaning each profession has a grammatical gender-masculine (der), feminine (die), or neuter (das). For example:

Der Fliesenleger (masculine - the tiler) can become die Fliesenlegerin (feminine - the female tiler).

Die Verkäuferin (feminine - the female salesperson) and der Verkäufer (masculine - the male salesperson).

The feminine form of many professions is made by adding the suffix "-in", like die Lehrerin (the female teacher) from der Lehrer (the male teacher).
